RE: NEW MEMBERS WANTED Dear Prospective Members: Thank you for this opportunity to introduce ourselves. We are an informal group of chartered accountants living and working in or around Calgary. Most of our members are sole practitioners, partners or senior staff of smaller C.A. firms in Calgary. However membership is open to all C.A.s in good standing, including those in industry, resident in Alberta. Our regular monthly meetings are held as a luncheon on the Wednesday closest to the middle of the month at the Holiday Inn, 4206 Macleod Trail South, Calgary at 12:00 noon. Our speakers have covered a variety of topics, for example, special skills among our members, micro-computer programs, typical fee and collections methods and tax issues. It is our mandate to provide a forum for discussion and liaisons among our members. Members are encouraged to discuss their concerns with their professional peers and attempt to resolve them. Professional development continues to be an on going issue. We also offer technical sessions periodically (at least 6 times a year), often focusing on tax matters and intended to be of particular assistance to the smaller firms. These sessions usually occur on a Saturday, and we keep the cost to a minimum (often $30.00 or the entire season for $100.00). But, they are limited to members. Besides these advantages we offer opportunities for group buying, referrals, staff sharing and social functions. Our membership fee is a low $100.00 per year with a nominal lunch fee of $20.00.
